Photos of Dr_Ian's World Tour << Back Part 6. Disneyland |

The Most Artifical Place on Earth. Ah, Disneyland. The Hotel at the front looks horrendous enough but it gets a lot more horrendous on the inside. The park isn't that bad actually, but it's really synthetic. The other side. Pretty big. The Disneyland Paris main road. Straight out of a cartoon. I believe that is the back of Andos' head. We are arriving at Discovery Land here. First we went in an attraction with a panoramic cinema where this robot called Timekeeper send his droid 9Eye back in time. Then we went on Space Mountain, which was a ridiculous roller coaster in the dark. It went fairly fast. It's a trap! There was the Star Tours ride which was based off Star Wars. It used 'motion simulation' which was pretty decent at making one feel like they were actually moving. It wasn't perfect though. Adventure Land was the place with the Indiana Jones ride and the Pirates of the Carribean ride. We went to get tickets for the Indy ride. It looks awesome as you can see. DT consults the map. I used Burfelt's chin to covertly photograph DT. This castle is really really pink. I don't know if there is any real military or governmental advantage to painting a castle pink but apparently someome thought so. Note the cuboid tree at the right. This shot reminds me of the game 'The Neverhood', so you should all play that if you haven't already. I took a movie of the castle and the surround scenery. Look out for Burfelt, Jeff and DT as well as others. Warning! This ride is totally sweet and awesome! It was time for the Indy ride. Snakes? I hate snakes! This looked cool. People looking generally queued. Note the upsidedown people. The Indy ride went backwards and was pretty darn good. It wasn't quite as fast as space mountain but it also wasn't pitch black and it was INDY! We then went on the Pirates of the Carribean ride, and it was nice and relaxing. It had a few fast bits but was generally just an awesome homage to pirates. Somehow we ended up in pink zone. This wasn't an actual attraction but it certainly attracted plenty of people. This bottle was on the grill all day, spinning around. This water bounces around. It was such a simple effect but it really caught the eye. It was part of the hedge maze. Apparently I was the last out of the hedge maze. It's not my fault if those people aren't enthralled by the giant pink and yellow castle. There was a big skull waterfall which was pretty. We were heading towards the treehouse at this point. The tree is made of iron, because this is the world of fake. The treehouse was large and more like a tree walk, but very well constructed. Can anyone say ICO? Once we all met up again, it started to rain. This is kind of funny because a lot of the visitors starting putting on raincoats and stuff. The rain was really pathetic and probably couldn't get you even slightly damp if you were trying. There was a dragon in a float that drove past. I'm not sure exactly what's going on here, but I'm pretty sure it's a float of some sort. As it got dark, the whole place turned in to a neon world. We went on the final big roller coaster, Thunder Mountain or something. It was the best one. By miles. Oh, I went on 'It's A Small World...' as well, and that was sickeningly cute/happy which was cool. Towards closing time the castle lit up and another parade and some fireworks turned up. This is Mickey Mouse looking like some sort of dodgy Vegas bloke, with his casino-like float that encourages gambling to children? What on earth is going on here? AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaah!!! Mask cosplay! Scary! The villain from Alladin had a sweet beard, but didn't want to show it for the picture. Oh well. After a bit of a wait, the castle started exploding with fireworks... ...and continued to do so... ...until the castle was completely destroyed. The park closed and we went to Maccies and it had a really big M sign, and the people inside didn't want to make it fast food but instead slow food so it took 45 minutes to get food. A bit useless. Royal with Cheese and mayonnaise for the chips. Pulp Fiction wasn't lying. Going Home The sun is so bright in France compared with Scotland. The Channel Tunnel is a bit crazy. The windows are dirty but I managed to get a picture of some variously technological and train looking parts. Omg lol the brighton pier is so rubbish. This is either going to make sense to you or not. My Dad likes pictures out of planes so I took one. Zipping away from Edinburgh Airport towards my flat. Hooray. I got home safely but ever since my world tour, I have lost a little of my sense of dignity. The end. |
